Salon and Cafe

The Library Salon ROSSIO DE PRATE

A soothing window view on the Taki river and some gorgeous cherry blossom trees. An interior that boasts a beautifully aged wooden structure made of pine and teak, embellished with antique decor from the collection of Mr. Kanai Shirobe (the 13th ) from the Meiji and Taisho periods, and some quirky elements passionately collected from trips around the world. The result is a harmonious blend of Est and West, reflecting the cultural melt of Arima Onsen, which was during the Meiji and Taisho eras, one of the first and most frequented hot-spring resort destinations by the early western visitors. The library salon was then a dancing lounge where music was played, and where Goshoboh guests were invited to dance and socialize. The space hasn’t changed much even after the destructive Kobe earthquake in 1938. Today, it is a place where guests can enjoy a morning coffee, an afternoon tea, or an early appetizer. It is also a concert and event space during summer, Christmas and other seasonal occasions.

Café de Beau

Located 3 minutes walk from Tocen Goshoboh, Café de Beau is a cozy place to rest and enjoy some freshly made coffee, and some delicious french style pastries with local flair. The Tanba black beans pie, and the cake roll with natural salt from Arima Hot-springs, are few examples of Café de Beau’s original delicacies. The property used to be the house of the KANAI family, founder of Tocen Goshoboh. Hence the nostalgic Taisho-Roman style, with a typical blend of west-east and old-new which characterizes Arima Onsen. The interior boasts a salon space, a private tatami room, and a sunny terrace opened to a charming Japanese garden which links the Cafe to the Art gallery.
